PURPOSE OF POSITION
Hope Church is currently seeking a high level leader to fill a staff ministry role as children's minister to lead, develop, & facilitate an engaging, wholistic children's ministry in an active church plant in the Northwest Houston metro area. The children’s minister is responsible for the pastoring of children & their families through the implementation of a ministry strategy that equips parents to be disciple-makers of their children & leads children to become genuine disciples by building a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime.
GENERAL COMPETENCIES
This position requires Godly character, a fervent walk with Jesus, a passion for disciple-making, general organizational skills, & a history of engaging & connecting well with kids & parents. This person should also be familiar with & fully supportive of the strategy, structure, & theology of Hope Church, possess a strong faith in Jesus Christ & personal knowledge of the Bible, & financially support the ministry of Hope Church through regular giving.
PREFERRED PREREQUISITES
• At least two years serving in leadership in a kids ministry of a Bible-based church.
• An advanced degree in education, ministry, or some other studies relevant to children’s ministry.
• Competent in using social media platforms, office software, & database software.
• Will be able to have the desire, margin, & flexibility in the future to grow with the ministry.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cast the vision for a vibrant Children’s Ministry that will allow kids to experience God (not just learn about Him) in a relevant & relational ways.
2. Develop a dynamic leadership team of staff & volunteers through recruiting well & providing resources/training & implementing appreciation strategies.
3. Develop an active outreach ministry to preschoolers, elementary children, & their families.
4. Plan, organize, staff, & coordinate engaging summer programs for children.
5. Develop & implement a strategy that helps equip parents to be the primary disciplers of their children.
6. Develop & implement policies for the safety and security of children, including but not limited to effective use of check-in & check-out technology.
7. Plan & participate in parent/child dedication services & classes.
8. Coordinate and staff nursery/preschool worship care & childcare during agreed upon church-wide events.
9. Plan, staff and implement camping/retreat experiences for upper elementary grades.
10. Use effective modes of communication including emails, Facebook, mailings, etc. designed to keep families engaged & informed of current programs, projects, & opportunities.
11. Meet weekly on Monday with the pastoral staff for mutual enrichment & collaboration
Reporting Relationship: This position reports to Lead Pastor, Justin Dancer.
Schedule: This is a part-time, hourly position with 25 hours available weekly.
